The many uses of a dryer fabric-softner sheet

When we moved recently there was a lot of dusting to do, and on one of the first days at our new place, I did not have a duster or paper towels, so I just used my dryer fabric-softener sheet and I was amazed by how easily it removed dust. I subsequently did some research and found that there are many uses for these things if you dampen it a bit:

(instead of using the new ones, use the used sheets)

• Use them on computer monitors, TVs and the top of refrigerators, and not only do you get a streak-free screen, but it will leave behind an antistatic residue that will discourage dust from sticking to the surface.

• Use them on lap shades, and mini blinds and it reduces the stat cling that attracts dust.

• They are great for removing ugly soap scum from glass shower doors. They don't leave behind any lint, and the softener residue on the sheets helps prevent future soap buildup. They are great on any glass surface.

• For curtains, stick them in the dryer with a couple of sheets and it will draw the dust and reduces static cling that attracts dust.

• For cathedral ceilings, tape a couple of sheets to a helium balloon - attach a long string so you can still hold it, and walk around the room and guide the balloon, it will attract the dust.

• I've even used them on fan blades

• I put a couple of new sheets at the bottom of the diaper pail, so it won't smell as bad.

• Now this is not related to the sheets but I stumbled upon this nugget - if your washing machine has too much deposits of fabric softener or bleach, pour some hot water into the holder where you'd normally place the fabric softener or bleach, then run the machine. It will clean it out.
